Descriptive roll of the 71st Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, 1862-1863.

Each entry includes soldier's name, height, complexion, eye color, hair color, birthplace, occupation, enlistment date, enlistment place, by whom enlisted, term of enlistment, and remarks. The volume also lists names of regiment's officers, register of men transferred, register of men discharged, register of deaths, and register of deserters.

When Mexican and Civil War soldiers mustered out of service, many regiments turned their flags over to the state of Ohio.
